Petra Anderson - Centre Secretary
Petra is the Centre Secretary. She is the first point of contact for all enquiries at BRASS, greets visitors, and provides invaluable support for all BRASS staff. Petra joined BRASS in June 2006.
Sarah Wilshin - Centre Manager
Sarah in the Centre Manager. She joined BRASS In June 2009. Sarah has a degree in Rural Resource Management from Writtle College and a Masters in Environmental Management from Imperial College.
Laura James - Administration Manager
Laura is responsible for managing the administration of BRASS and is also involved in Centre communications. Laura joined BRASS in January 2006 and is a graduate of Cardiff University, with a degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in History of Philosophy.
Liz Thomas - Communications Manager
Liz has been the Communications Manager at BRASS since 2005. She has a degree in Environmental Geoscience and a Postgrad Diploma in Public and Media Relations, both from Cardiff University. Liz oversees the communication activities at BRASS and is responsible for the website, media activities and external communications.
Lori Frater - Research Manager
Lori is one of the Centre's Research Managers. She holds a degree in law from King’s College, London, degree in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde, a Masters of Environmental Law from Sydney University and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2000 after completing the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law
Dr Diego Vazquez - Research Manager
Diego is one of the Centre's Research Managers. He holds degrees in Hydraulic and Civil Engineering from the University of La Plata, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Administration, a Masters in Research methods and in Business Administration from Royal Holloway School of Management, University of London, where he also recently completed his PhD. His current research interests include: Environmental Values, Mindsets and Practices; Policy Process and Decision Making; Discourse Analysis ; Stakeholders Theory; Corporate Social Responsibility; Policy Evaluation; Research Methods; Managing, Reporting and Measuring Sustainability.
Jeroen Dijkshoorn - Research Associate
Jeroen is a Research Associate at BRASS. He has more than ten years' experience in most aspects of the commercial research industry, both in the Netherlands and the UK. His research interests include: European alternatives in waste management and Waste Management of SMEs in rural Britain.
Heledd Jenkins - Research Associate
Heledd is a Research Associate at BRASS. She holds a degree in Geography from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and a Masters from Cardiff University. Her research interests include: Corporate Social Responsibility and CSR in the mining industry.
Dr Adrian Morley - Research Associate
Adrian is a Research Associate at BRASS.He holds a degree in Food Sciences with European Studies from Nottingham University and a masters degree in International Agricultural Food Marketing from the University of Newcastle. He completed a PhD on ‘Innovation Needs and Outcomes in Food Micro Firms’ in the School of City and Regional Planning, Cardiff University in 2003 and has since worked on a number of research projects mainly related to sustainable food chains, local food initiatives and public procurement
Dr Hazel Nash - Research Associate
Hazel is a Research Associate at BRASS. She holds a degree in Physical Geography and German, a Masters degree in Environmental Law and Management and a Masters degree in Social Research Methods from Aberystwyth University (UA). Her Ph.D thesis focused on precaution and risk in Welsh development control decisions.
Dr Julie Newton- Research Associate
Julie Newton joined BRASS as a Research Associate in 2007 to work on the Sustainable Communities Project. She holds a BA(Hons) in Geography and Phd from the University of Sheffield. Julie is currently working on a jointly funded ESRC and Academy and Sustainable Communities Project: 'Motivating, engaging, leading and supporting skills and knowledge for sustainable communities- Applying models of sustainable localised economies'. Her areas of research interests include sustainable communities; wellbeing; poverty and the environment; natural resource management; rural livelihoods; green spaces; agricultural extension; gender mainstreaming; culture and identity and social integration and inclusion.
Cerys Ponting - Knowledge Exchange Manager & P/T Research Associate
Cerys is a Research Associate at BRASS. She holds a degree in Business Administration from the School of Management at the University of Bath. Her research areas of interest include: CSR, Wellbeing, Corporate Governance, Globalisation and Development, Sustainable Development, Employee Volunteering, Social Enterprise and Producer Responsibility.
Ria Dunkley - Research Assistant
Ria joined BRASS as a Research Assistant in 2011 from The Eden Project where she worked as lead researcher on sustainability education projects, funded by the Department for Education and the European Social Fund. Her research interests include: Education for sustainability, climate change, corporate social responsibility, innovative research methodologies, the creative industries and sustainable tourism. Ria holds a PhD in heritage tourism.

Alastair joined BRASS as a Research Assistant in 2011 after completing his PhD at Cardiff University in 'Fair trade governance, public procurement and sustainable development : a case study of Malawian rice in Scotland' jointly at the School of City and Regional Planning and the BRASS Centre. His research interests include: Micro economic approaches to decision making in the developing world, poverty, risk and development; trade and development; macroeconomic management; sustainable business management.
