Dr Chris Groves - Research Associate

 

Career Experience and Qualifications

Chris is a Research Associate at BRASS. He has a degree in Philosophy and Sociology (University of York), an MA in Philosophy and Social Theory (University of Warwick), and a PhD in Philosophy (University of Warwick). 

In 2005 Chris joined the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff as Research Associate on the ESRC Professorial Fellowship In Pursuit of the Future with Professor Barbara Adam. After the end of this project, in 2007 he worked on a six-month BBC-Trust funded project in the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies which examined the way devolution in the UK is represented in the national media.

Research Areas of Interest

Environmental ethics and law; intergenerational ethics and sustainability; novel technologies; risk and regulation; sociology of risk and uncertainty; social theories of time; devolution and democratic politics in the United Kingdom.

Current Research Projects

Chris is currently working with Lori Frater and Robert Lee on the regulation of new technologies, with special reference to nanotechnology.
