Dr Selyf Morgan- ESRC Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Career Experience and Qualifications
Selyf Morgan is an ESRC Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at BRASS working on agri-food issues. He has undergraduate and Masters level degrees in Physics (Heriot-Watt University), a Masters in Science and Technology Policy (University of Sussex), and completed a PhD on knowledge generation and knowledge transfer issues relating to conversion to organic agriculture at the School of City and Regional Planning at Cardiff University in 2005. He is currently funded by an ESRC post-doctorate fellowship to work on issues emerging from his PhD thesis.
To date Selyf has worked on a number of research projects including regional economic development, agri-food policy, the entrepreneurial characteristics of farmers, and the procurement of food by the Public Sector in the UK. The latter project was conducted with particular emphasis on the supply of locally produced foodstuffs to public sector institutions.
Research Areas of Interest
Whilst his initial training was in the natural sciences Selyf's interests have developed in areas related to science policy, regional economic development, and latterly on agri-food and agri-environmental issues. Current areas of interest include knowledge generation and learning in agriculture, innovation and entrepreneurial behaviour, and rural development.
Research Projects
Selyf is currently working as an ESRC post-doctorate reseach fellow to develop areas of interest from his PhD thesis.
