Reeling and Writhing: Corporate Environmental Disclosures in the Context of Non-Financial Reporting Obligations.

 

Career Experience and Qualifications

Steven Vaughan holds a bachelors degree in Jurisprudence from Oxford University, where he studied at Corpus Christi College. On completion of his Legal Practice Course diploma, Steven joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a trainee solicitor, spending six months of his training in their Paris office, focusing on French environmental law.

On qualification as a solicitor in August 2005, Steven joined Freshfield’s Environment, Planning and Regulatory team in London where his practice focused on the provision of environmental law advice in the context of multinational mergers and acquisitions, project financings and real estate matters. In the summer of 2006, Steven joined the London office of Latham & Watkins LLP as an attorney in their Environment, Land and Resources group. He has recently represented clients in the renewable energy, paper, waste and manufacturing sectors as well as numerous private equity and other financial institutions.

 

Current Research

Steven is currently undertaking the MSc in Social Science Research Methods at Cardiff University, with a view to starting his PhD at BRASS in autumn 2008. Steven’s doctorate thesis will look at regulation, theory and practice in the context of disclosures on environmental matters made by bodies corporate.

 

Research Interests

Environmental Policy and Regulation; Non-financial Reporting; Corporate Governance.

 

Teaching Commitments

Steven teaches on the Company Law undergraduate module at Cardiff Law School and assists with the teaching of the Environmental Law postgraduate module at the School of Earth Sciences.
