Reporting Sustainability
Lead Researchers:Dr Jill Solomon (Alumni) and Lauren Darby (Alumni)
The reporting of activities from a sustainability perspective has become a major business approach in the last decade. Approaches to reporting have been varied to say the least, and there are as many ideas and models surrounding sustainability reporting as the behaviours they report on. This research focused on a number of aspects of reporting of businesses and other organisations, and specifically looks at social, environmental and ethical reporting.
Sustainability reporting research:
Investigates the ways in which businesses relate to their stakeholders through the use of reporting techniques and models, and provides a critical analysis of the validity of such approaches
Focuses on the ways in which corporate accountability can be better understood
Investigates new ways of reporting and new tools and techniques aimed at reporting on sustainability progress in business
This research was key to BRASS work as it looked at sustainability from the communication and integration angles, and identified the need for businesses and other organisations to develop and support their approaches to accountability and social responsibility through the medium of communication with all stakeholders.
